On Mar. 20, 2007, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) announced a five-year, $24 million Integrative Neuroscience Initiative on Alcoholism grant to support a consortium led by an Oregon Health & Science University researcher Kathleen A. Grant, Ph.D.

About $6.3 million of the five-year grant, from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, will go directly to OHSU, the organization said in a statement.

The money will be used to pay for projects in the laboratories of Dr. Grant, professor of behavioral neuroscience in the OHSU School of Medicine. The Integrative Neuroscience Initiative on Alcoholism consortium was comprised of 20 lead investigators from 11 institutions from the U.S., and Europe. The group received its initial round of funding in 2001.
