In 2012, Martin Memorial, now part of Cleveland Clinic, expanded into St. Lucie County when it opened an urgent care facility on Port St. Lucie Boulevard. Martin Health was founded in 1939 by physicians, Drs. Julian D. Parker, Van William Burns and Walter F. Davey, saw an average of eight patients a day.

In 2018, Cleveland Clinic announced the acquisition of Martin Health and an invesment of investment $500 million in Martin Health, which included three hospitals with 521 beds.
