
The CDC expanded the HIV definition to include any detectable viral load assay
On Apr. 1, 2000, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that it had expanded the HIV definition to include any detectable viral load assay completed since 01/01/00.
HIV ribonucleic acid (RNA) viral load reporting is critical in monitoring patients’ progression toward AIDS and response to HAART.
The expanded HIV definition also was made reportable in Texas.
