John A Pople was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry
In 1998, The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was divided equally between Walter Kohn “for his development of the density-functional theory” and John A. Pople “for his development of computational methods in quantum chemistry.” Pople’s award was based on work he did at Carnegie Mellon University. Today, his computational methods are used to create three-dimensional models of biological systems.
