National Alzheimer’s Disease Month was established
On Oct. 3, 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation making the month of November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Month.
During each November, the Alzheimer’s Association has marked the month by reaching out to caregivers, individuals with memory disorders, and the public with information about Alzheimer’s and related dementia, and holding educational events throughout the nation.
Worldwide, more than 55 million people are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, and two-thirds of Americans have at least one major potential risk factor for dementia. Take action now — for yourself, your loved ones and for the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
