The Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Science Centre was founded
In 1999, Michael Smith, recipient of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, founded Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Science Centre in Vancouver. The center performs high-throughput genome mapping and DNA sequencing to determine genetic codes, specifically to further cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment.
