The Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority was created
In 1999, Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority (FRA) is a special-purpose governmental entity created under an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Aurora and the Regents of the University of Colorado. The FRA is responsible for redevelopment of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center (Fitzsimons), decommissioned Jun. 30, 1999.
The 578-acre Fitzsimons property is now the site of the Colorado Bioscience Park – the largest medical-related redevelopment project in the nation.
