In 1997, the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) gained NCI designated comprehensive cancer center status and is the only such instittution in Orange County. The Center was renamed in honor of the Chao family as the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, operating fully integrated research, prevention, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
